Playing Video Games is Good for your Health
Studies have found that playing video games may be good for your brain. It seems that the negative effects of video games is often talked about more than the positive effects that occur. There is a good amount of research that shows that video games can be put to use for educational and therapeutic purposes. Studies also show that playing video games can improve reaction time and hand-eye co-ordination. Playing fast paced action video games can improve performance in perception, attention, and cognition. In a number of studies that included between ten and fourteen people, researchers reported that gamers with previous gaming experience were better at perceptual tasks than gamers with less experience. In a separate experiment, they trained people with little prior experience of playing action video games. The experiment proved that these people performed better on perceptual task than prior to their training. For educational purposes can video games provide a fun and stimulating learning experience making it easier to keep the students attention for a longer period of time. Video games may be a more appealing way of learning over traditional ways due to the excitement video games can arise. They can appeal to all ages, demographics, genders, and educational levels. They can be a great way to set goals and track the student's progress towards achieving that set goal. It an easy way to provide self reinforcement, feedback, self-esteem, and maintain a record of behavioral changes. There is little evidence of serious negative effects resulting from moderate video gaming.
