Review of Asus Budget PC

Acer began in the 1970’s as one of the original consumer electronics manufactures. It is a very well trusted brand. Today they offer a wide range of products to appeal to a large market of consumers. These products include desktops, laptops, smartphones, and other tech products. They have built their reputation arounf offering products that have great value for a cheaper price. Today there is a rather large market for gaming laptops to fit everybody’s budget. The selection of ‘budget’ PC’s has never been better. Deciding which budget PC to go with can be hard. I am aiming to help clear up that choice a bit with this article. It is important to keep in mind that each budget laptop will serve a different purpose. Some of them focus on high power, and some may focus on portability. Budget laptops will often lack in one aspect or another, which is the main downside. None of these budget laptops will ever compare to all the features a more higher end laptop will offer. I am going to review the Acer Aspire E15 E5-575-33BM, which is considered a budget laptop.
This PC offers Intel HD Graphics 620 graphic processor. This is often considered insufficient for a serious gamer as it is a very basic graphics processor. It will work very well for video playback and other regular simple computing needs. This card will share memory from the main processor, so it will not be able to edit video very well. Do not expect it to perform well when intensive graphics and intensive processing are needed at the same time. One plus of this setup is it will save a large amount of battery.
This PC is powered by an i3 processor. This processor is a 7th generation CPU. It is capable of running at 2.4 GHz, and is on the very efficient 14nm technology. This too results in a longer battery life. The PassMark test gave this processor a score of around 4,000 points. For what this computer is this processor will work just fine.
The PC offers 4GB of DDR4 RAM, which is more than enough power for the computing needs of this PC. Compared to some of its competition this PC leads that pack in this category. It comes with a 1TB hard drive, which will allow plenty of storage space. The 5400 RPM notebook drive will handle the processor and memory just fine. Audio multitrack recording and other tasks that require fast read/write speeds will not be likely be possible on this processor and memory. This is typical of all the PCs within the budget category.
For a budget PC the video quality is very good. It has a 15.6” full HD display. If offers Acer ColorBlast technology to help the depth of the colors for the PC. This feature makes this PC stand out from the others within this category. This technology basically helps make colors look more vivid than other PC displays. Do not expect to being seeing 4k capable PC within this category any time soon.
It comes with a standard 802.11ac wireless network connectivity. This allows the advantage of taking full on full speed from the router of your choice. This also allows the network connected storage and other devices to work as fast as you should need. As far as connections to monitors and external displays go, you will be able to connect via D-sub and HDMI connections. This being said, do not expect the best performance while using these external connections due to the limited GPU this PC offers. Do not expect it to be able to browse the internet on one screen and have it playback HD video on the other. The USB 2.0 and pair USB 3 connections should serve all needs. A 3.1 USB type C is offered, which is not found on most other laptops within this price range. This allows compatibility to other devices that continue to enter the market. With a RJ45 jack you will be able to connect to all wired networks. The charging port seems to be very small, which can be seen as a plus due to the PC’s low power consumption. It may feel as if the computer charges slower than other computers. This is reasonable when one charge lasts as long as it does. When comparing computing and charging time this PC competes well. The battery on average will last 10 hours or more with light use. This is considered top notch within its competition group. The SD card is more than ample of you do a large amount of photography. It is located on the front of the keyboard to make transferring files from a camera to your hard drive and breeze. This also allows using an SD card to easily transfer files between computers.
As far as the external looks of the computer go it can be best described as simple. Which is fine as people usually do not buy a computer based on the external looks of the product. This is not to say the PC is ugly or unattractive, but nothing flashy is offered here. It looks exactly the price that it costs. The keyboard is what you would expect with a computer of this class. It functions fine, but an external keyboard upgrade is recommended. It has small keys that are sensitive to soft touches. This attribute is not recommended when using the laptop for gaming.

This PC offers a better than average screen, ample connectivity, but is a little heavy at 5.5 pounds. The weight of this PC hurts the overall portability, which is often key when offered the long battery life of this PC. Overall this PC offers a good amount of value for the price. Some of the features for this PC would have been unheard of a few years ago for the price of this laptop. If you are looking for a budget laptop I would stop your search here. I would rate this PC at a seven out of ten.
